This is the transcription of the first of eight field journals by Dr. Charles M. Breder written during his fieldwork in Florida from 1958 to 1974. This diary covers three expeditions from 1958 to 1959. Many of his observations were of the schooling, feeding, and reproductive behaviors of mullets and needlefish, in addition to that of other local species. this journal makes frequent reference to his close work with Dr. Eugenie Clark, the founder of Mote Marine Laboratory. (Joy Feagan)
